The Hanna Fenichel Center project was a remodel and face-lift to a deteriorating pre-school facility. Functional improvements included new ADA restrooms, an administrative office, and a new roof structure to shelter exterior circulation. Color and pattern were used to reflected the fun and creativity of the Center’s curriculum and provide the Center with greater recognition and presence within the community.
This project received an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects 2009 Small Projects Award Program. The awards jury cited, “It’s a miraculous transformation of a utilitarian place into a playful and attractive space. It does a very good job of announcing the entry, making it much more welcoming and modern compared to the previous structure. Simple forms and great use of colors really transform this previously unattractive preschool into an exciting activity area for the kids and the faculty.”
